How to Register Courses? | Kwantlen Polytechnic University

So, the summer semester is almost going to end. Most of the students are now started to get emails from KPU regarding the course registration. Right? So, this article is quite a helpful resource for the new students who had recently joined the Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Even though, KPU has organized the webinar to clear out the doubts of the students. But still, some students have doubts regarding the courses registration. Let's begin with it.

Before commencing the course registration process, here is the one thing, that is necessary. Your course registration date and time. 

Step 1

First of all, go to the kpu.ca and click on a link in the website footer - One KPU, or you can simply go to the one.kpu.ca


Step 2

On this page, you will see numerous apps, you need to click on the app - Register for Classes



Step 3


Here you will have five options, let me discuss one by one.

  • Browse Classes
  • Prepare for Registration
  • Register for Classes
  • Registration History
  • Plan Ahead


Step 4


Before browsing or registering for courses, you need to look at the total number of courses are available - through My Action Plan.


a) You can find the MAP(My Action Plan) in the student profile. 



b) On KPU's website - My Action Plan




Once you redirect to the KPU My Action Plan, you will see a clear MAP of your program including how many credits you need to complete the program? How many courses you have chosen before? How many courses are left?. This means each and every piece of information regarding your courses.


In the following image, you can check the student need to complete an overall 33 credit score to achieve a degree. He/She has taken 3 courses means 9 credits in his/her first semester. Now, they can other 3 or 4 courses.



Once you have all the information regarding the courses and their course ID, you can browse the classes through option no. 1 Browse Classes.


Option 1:

Prepare for Registration


In this section, you can check the time and date for the course registration. Sometimes, it asks for the SIN number. The students who have the study permit and have SIN number can enter and press continue. On the other hand, the students who don't have SIN number, can choose the option of "I don't have SIN number" and save. It will display your registration date and time.

Option 2:

Browse Classes

✔ In this section, first of all, choose your term - fall, summer and press Continue.


✔ It will redirect you to the page, where you need to fill in the details like Subject, Course Number, Keyword and press Search.

✔ Once you click on the Search button, it will display a list of all the courses with this course number with Course Name, Credit Score, Campus Location, Section, Timings, Instructor Name, Seats Available, etcetera.


Option 3
Register for Classes

✔ This section is active exactly on your registration date and time. You can register for your courses by click on this option.


Option 4
Registration History

✔ This section is for the students who already have started their student at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. It means the students who are going to enrol in the second, third or fourth semester, can check their registration history through this option.


Option 5
Plan Ahead

✔ This is the best option provided by the Kwantlen Polytechnic University, you can plan your courses before the exact date of registration. It will follow the same steps as in the browse classes. Starting with the term selection, then selecting the course and course number, it will display the courses with professor name and time. You can add the desired course to your plan. Here you can add up to 3 plans.
